I’m Mordechai. I’m Esther’s uncle. Or her cousin. Or, according to one opinion in the Talmud, her husband.

ESTHER

Going on this adventure will give us a chance to try and better figure our relationship out. Besides, Mordechai and I just need some “M-E Time.”

ANNOUNCER

AHASHVERUS

I’m King Ahashverosh. I divorced Vashti and forcibly expelled her from my kingdom.

VASHTI

But there’s no reason we can’t be civil.

AHASHVERUS

You know, for the sake of the eunuchs.

Offstage, a EUNUCH jumps up and down, waves, peeps, “Hi Your Majesty! Hi Mrs. Ex-Your Majesty!” They wave back, cheerily.
